“Let us read, and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world.”―Voltaire
Not only will reading and dancing do no harm to the world, it will do the opposite and make the world a better place!
It’s hard to exchange a habit like watching Netflix with reading a book, but it can be done. Start replacing some of your Netflix time with book time.
Reading can change your life.
Reading develops self-awareness. It develops awareness of the world and people around you. It makes you ask better questions. It makes you happier. On and on the benefits go. Start reading 10 pages every morning and/or night. Then let it grow.
Dancing is a powerfully therapeutic endeavor that is undervalued as such. But most people are too self-conscious to dance. They think everyone is staring at them when they step on a dance floor. Some people will watch you from the sidelines. Most won’t take notice. So dance.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Think of dancing as something you know you won’t regret later on. While not dancing is something you will look back on when you are 80 and say to yourself, “I wish I would have danced.” You will think how silly you were to care what others thought. You will regret not dancing and you will never regret dancing. The same goes for reading a book over watching Netflix.
Dance as often as possible.
Read as often as possible.
