Embrace Your Burdens (Love of Fate)

“When you carry your burden, you should know that it is good for you to have it. Make the best of this burden and take from it everything which is necessary for your intellectual life, as your stomach takes from food everything necessary for your flesh, or as fire burns brighter after you put some wood on it.”

“Be attentive to what you do; never consider anything unworthy of your attention.”

Amor fati is a Latin phrase that may be translated as "love of fate" or "love of one's fate.”

Living in the future, a place you think you deserve that, will be a utopia of everything you want. You'll have no problems there, and your every day will be perpetual bliss.

Yet when have you ever reached that point? Did you not daydream about it 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 20?

When do you ever get there?

Here's the secret: you don't.

You never get there because it's always in the future, and the future is an abstraction that doesn't exist.

The now is all you have, and your human biology always wants more. Your biology doesn't want contentment in the present moment, especially in this complex modern environment.
